Botox is a non-surgical option that is used to diminish the appearance of eye wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging lids. Botox is a treatment made from botulinum toxin that is injected subcutaneously. Doing so blocks the nerve’s response at the site of the injection, which causes a temporary paralysis of the muscles. When Botox is injected into the eye area, it temporarily paralyzes muscles that are used to squint, which is what causes the wrinkles. Being a non-surgical procedure, the results are only temporary and the injections can last from three to six months. However, the more treatments that are done, the better the results occur.
